English Language Requirements 2008 and beyond

All Monash applicants must satisfy the minimum English language requirements of the university. You can meet these requirements in one of the following ways:

English test
Result required

IELTS (International English Language Testing System - academic test)

  • minimum test score of 7
  • no individual band score less than 6.5

Paper-based TOEFL (American Test of English as a Foreign Language)

  • minimum test score of 600
  • a Test of Written English (TWE) score of at least 5

Internet-based TOEFL (American Test of English as a Foreign Language)

  • a score of at least 100 overall
  • a Writing score of at least 24+
  • no score lower than 20 on the other sections of the test.

AusAid Transition Arrangements

For AusAid applicants, a transition arrangement applies for students who have not satisfied the English language requirements. There are opportunities to tailor the scholarship package to your course of study.

All of your secondary schooling was in English and you have successfully completed at least two university level subjects in an institution where English is the language of instruction and assessment.

You have successfully completed the Monash University English Language Bridging Program, or equivalent programs, at the appropriate level. Visit Monash University English Language Centre.

 

Higher Degrees by Research

The minimum English language requirements for admission to a higher degree by research in a business discipline require an IELTS of 7.0 with no individual band score less than 6.5
