Volunteer Opportunities for GSB StudentsGSB students can gain valuable skills and experience, and take advantage of networking opportunities by volunteering. Current opportunities available include: GoodCompanyConnects skilled professionals with charitable organisations in need of pro bono assistance. More than ever skilled volunteers are a crucial resource. GoodCompany helps 670 community groups in over a dozen social sectors match roles with skilled professional volunteers in Victoria and NSW.
The Parliament of the World’s Religions 2009This event is the most important non-sporting event to be held in Victoria this year, December 3-9, at the New Convention Centre to be opened in July – the only 6 star green building of its kind in the world. Melbourne won the Bid for this event which is held every five years in a different city around the world, the last being Barcelona in 2004. Over 8,000 people will come to Melbourne for the Parliament – usually one third from the host country, one third from North America and one third from the rest of the world. Religious leaders from around the world will give major addresses – including H.H. The Dalai Lama. There will be 500 programs over six days and seven nights. There are many opportunities for GSB students to join the Volunteer Program and you can do this by signing on to the Parliament website.
