Master of Business (Banking and Finance)

The 12-unit Master of Business (Banking and Finance) will provide you with the conceptual and managerial decision-making skills necessary for effective management in the continuously changing domestic and international finance markets.

The program covers the core areas of capital markets, treasury management, portfolio management, business finance and financial management. Elective units are chosen from a wide range of specific areas of interest, allowing for flexibility and movement into specific areas in finance and business related areas.

This program offers those that do not have a finance or business background the opportunity for a career-entry qualification into this discipline. Students who attain a credit average on completion of the Master of Business (Banking and Finance) may be eligible to articulate into the Master of Applied Finance.

Master of Applied Finance

The Master of Applied Finance provides banking and finance career professionals with further education and a postgraduate qualification in finance. This degree is designed for graduates with an undergraduate degree in Business or Commerce, majoring in finance, to pursue a further qualification and a career in the finance field. This course presents material from an applied perspective, providing opportunities for students to examine real world finance issues through an applied theoretical framework.

The Master of Applied Finance provides students with the opportunity to put theory learned into practice, participating in units held in the Accounting and Finance Simulated Teaching and Research Laboratory (STAR Lab). The Accounting and Finance STAR Lab has a computer-based system, which replicates that of Australia's leading financial institutions. The system integrates financial data and back-office reconciliation of transactions bringing together market information, development of strategies, communication and profitability.
