The MBA is a highly sought-after qualification for those aspiring to a career in senior management. The flexibility of the MBA degree allows students to tailor the program to suit their individual needs.

The Monash MBA is made up of 16 units – 10 core units covering the major business disciplines and a choice of six elective units. Students can either create a specialisation or professional track in an area of interest by taking all electives within the one discipline, or they may choose six electives from different disciplines to create a very broad-based degree.

Areas of study include marketing, health services management, entrepreneurship and innovation, corporate finance, business law, human resource management, information technology, international business and many more.

Most importantly the MBA is underpinned by a leadership program consisting of four modules:

  • Personal skills development
  • Leadership workshops
  • Leadership forums
  • Professional development and career management.

The personal skills development module of our leadership program is conducted over two successive weekends immediately prior to the commencement of the core curriculum. The module consists of a number of tests and workshops designed to provide insight concerning personal characteristics and the level of generic skills in areas such as problem solving, critical thinking, report writing and interpersonal understandings. This information provides a starting point for the purpose of each student’s career development planning and associated choice of electives or professional tracks of study.

MBA students attend two full-day leadership workshops comprising a range of activities and learning strategies designed to help identify, understand, practise and evaluate selected leadership skills.

The leadership forums provide opportunities for students to gain insight from top business leaders into how they manage their organisations and generally what they have learnt from practical experience.

Students participate in a series of career management workshops that are designed to assist each individual to develop a career enhancement strategy.
