Master of Public Policy and Management

Continuous development and reform are recurring themes for governments throughout the world. This requires the knowledge and skills to understand, manage and adapt to change in fields as diverse as governance, service delivery, management and public enterprise.

Global moves towards competitive, flexible and managerial models of public administration force political leaders and managers to face challenges such as sophisticated regulation of privatised utilities, managing contracted services and active engagement with citizens.

The Public Policy and Management program will provide graduates with the analytical and managerial skills to deal effectively with continued pressure for reduced budgets, more rigorous accountability and improved services.

Career opportunities
These include a wide range of policy and management positions in the public sector; the private and community sectors which deliver many public services; consulting within Australia; and international consulting, particularly in development assistance programs.

Cameron O’Reilly
“My Master of Public Policy and Management has given me credible postgraduate qualifications in an area relevant to my work. It provided excellent grounding in how to frame public policy arguments – which I now do on behalf of energy companies facing an emissions constrained future.”
